Ius Laboris, a global Alliance of leading employment, labour and pension law firms that provides companies employing an international workforce with first-class legal advice and support on all human resources issues. With more than 1,400 employment lawyers in over 160 cities, Ius Laboris provides deep local HR law knowledge on a global scale to help clients operating at home or abroad.
Created in January 2001, Ius Laboris is the first network of its kind and uses the international expertise of its members in order to offer specialized legal advice tο worldwide operating companies, as well as individuals, in the area of labour law, employee benefits, pensions, occupational pension funds.
Ius Laboris was founded as an autonomous, non-profit association according to the Belgium law, seated in Brussels. The idea of a “horizontal network of law offices” implicates a unique concept for the cooperation of law offices under a common identity. The member firms need to have a standard level, but each member is free in its decisions as well.
Few legal networks have been monitoring quality issues for as long as Ius Laboris has. It is the founding principle principle on which the Alliance was built. Outstanding quality does not happen by chance. When recruiting a member to represent a new jurisdiction, their dedicated team carries out a thorough due diligence on all candidates. They invite the best firms, and only one in each country is chosen to join the ranks of their member firms. After new members join the Alliance, Ius Laboris applies the same quality control measures to ensure that high standards continue to be met. Their mission is to establish and maintain first-class client service levels across the entire Ius Laboris membership.
The membership in Ius Laboris guarantees a high quality level of legal advice. Several advantages derive from the cooperation between the member firms, as in any case there is the possibility of a comparative overview of the members’ legislation at international level, and the lawyers are benefited from the other associates’ experience.
Finally, and most importantly, Ius Laboris committed to excellence. With 24% more ranked HR lawyers than the nearest rival (source Chambers Global Guide 2014), in 10% more jurisdictions (source Legal 500, July 2014), brings together more leading law firms than any other HR legal services organisation. That’s something Alliance is extremely proud of.
